Wearing: French Chiquita

American Apparel head scarf and biker shorts, taiwanese dress from mom, Guerlain lipstick in ‘folie de grenat,’ Lovcat quilted heart bag, Francesca’s belt, Forever 21 earrings and zebra ring, All Black kitten heels

not sure if i feel more french dancer or chiquita banana lady today so, as my description indicates well call it a nice mix of both. when i moved to the city a few years ago i noticed one huge difference in women’s summer fashion - everyone wears dresses and skirts all day everyday through these hot months. unlike other cities, sweaty walks and public transportation to work are a must so women have adapted to adorn themselves in beautiful, work-appropriate dresses that allow them to move and breathe during the commute.

when i went home last weekend my mom surprised me with this cute little dress from her recent travels to taiwan. while i didn’t initially think i’d love it, once i tried it on i adored its classic, work-appropriate feel combined with its ability to majorly elongate the legs so i was sold. since dresses check off the top and bottom categories in your daily outfit, you’re only left with basic accessories and shoes, so i included things that added flavor without being distracting. among my additions are a some great sale items i’ve found over the last few months — the shoes were $40 from the OAK sample sale, bag $8 from a sidewalk sale and belt $10 on sale from my hometown Francesca’s store. xoxo.
