wearing: lace blouse: thrifted from Beacon’s Closet, beaded cape sweater: Forever 21, flare pants: Allen B., patent pumps: Zara, lindsey link clutch: c/o Elly Clay, earrings and bracelet: vintage Ralph Lauren, leopard cuff: Forever 21, rings: Forever 21 and gift from mother in law!, makeup: Mally perfect prep lip primer, Sephora lipstick in ‘it girl,’ Julie Hewett cream blush in ‘destiny.’
black and white together is a classic pairing that becomes instantly more geometric and chic when opposite shapes and lengths are at play. this cropped Forever 21 sweater is years old and long forgotten until i went on the hunt for a contrasting yet streamlined addition to this blouse. i love how it doesn’t weigh down the blouse and worn open shows the beading without being too covering.
it’s rainy in the city right now but that won’t stop me from sneaking away from work for an hour to head to the soho showing of Erica Weiner’s collection with the one and only sara zucker! erica’s jewels are both new and vintage, and all have this charming, old world feel that’s surprisingly modern. i can’t wait to see the baubles in person and share my favorites! xoxo.

Wearing: jacket: Forever 21, top: dressshirt style #1003 from Carrie Parry Fall 2011 Collection, pant: Allen B., shoes: Zara, bag: vintage, pin: vintage, bracelets: Forever 21 and c/o Bauble Bar, watch: vintage, rings: Forever 21 and vintage, earrings: vintage, sunglasses: Asos, nails: Butter London ‘The Full Monty.’
There’s a reason why the classic button-up and sleek pant combo has been around for so long — its simple, professional and makes for a great silhouette. I wanted to wear a longer jacket so opted to leave the shirt untucked to align the overall shape a bit.
And this top - ah I love! It’s from Carrie Parry and I first fell in love with the line (and sweet, sweet designer) at Nolcha Fashion Week. Carrie designs all her pieces with the environment and sustainability in mind, so many pieces are locally-made in Brooklyn and utilize organic materials. I adore the intricate pin tuck bib collar and love how it takes a plain black top to a whole new level. Carrie was kind enough to loan me a few pieces, including this top, as well as a skirt and dress, the latter of which I wore to an industry dinner this past Saturday. Can’t wait to share some photos. xoxo.
Thanks to Erin for today’s photos.

Wearing: Forever 21 button-up, tweed jacket, faux-diamond and chunky pearl necklaces, ring, bracelets and textured belt; Allen B. flare pants; vintage Candies pumps; vintage Coach bag; vintage Liz Claiborne sunglasses; American Eagle double chain necklace; pearls from China; vintage bow brooch; China Glaze polish in ‘Drastic.’
I feel like an UES grandmother visiting the country club today with all these elegant jewels and sparkly tweed jacket. Even though I always tend to dress up, this somehow feels more glamorous and refined, and I like it! The best part would be how ridiculously cheap everything I’m wearing is — from these vintage Candies pumps and Coach bag, thrifted for $5 and $15, respectively, to this Forever 21 jacket I’ve had for seriously almost 10 years!
The real inspiration for the entire look came from these new pants. I haven’t visited the slim-leg/extreme flare pant since high school and wasn’t expecting to anytime soon… that’s until Tuesday, when as you may recall, I stopped by The Columbia Club to take part in a collaboration shoot with LifeTie. After my shoot, the lovelies from Of a Kind were up next and Claire was wearing extreme flares and just like that, I was inspired. Last night I went to JcPenney and found these from Allen B. for $60, but after a $10 off coupon, an unmarked sale price and $25 gift card, I only paid $1 for them!! So excited to work the old/new shape into the Fall wardrobe! xoxo.
